A farmer ploughs fields
A farmer ploughs fields with his bufallo, in Haraganda village, Orissa, India. The fields are flooded every rainy season by the waters from the Machkund dam. The fields are not owned by the farmer although before the dam was built, they were farmed in common by the Tribal peoples of the area. Cultivation, while technically illegal, is ignored by the authorities
